everything to sleepy.

The doctor tried to get more detailed information but he was limited to what words he knew. He said they went back to them and they were gone and that's how he knew he was good at it. He said after his brother took him home he would go back and watch them wake up and go back home. His brother would then bring him back and show him they were gone the next day.

He then talked about his mother and what happened the day she died. He came in from outside to see his brother playing the sleepy game with his mother and screamed not because it was his mom but because his brother was doing his part of the game. His brother ran away so he sat next to her so he could be there when she woke up but she never did.

We arrived at the hospital and immediately went to meet with the doctor. We talked and then watched the video of the little brother’s session with the doctor and realized he was more involved than originally thought. There’s no doubt that we had to interview the older brother again, this time we would show him what his little brother had said.

In the beginning he just repeated his original story until we showed him the video of his little brother. After it was over he was speechless for a while afterwards. He wanted to tell the whole story and then said he needed time to think. We left him in the room and he ended up watching the video again before he asked us to come back in and that he was ready to talk.

He was seven years old and his father started taking him to work with him on weekends and during summer break. He shadowed his father most of the time he was there to watch what his dad did. He saw a variety of pets some in for a routine checkup and others very sick or injured. What he didn't see was what happened in a special room that animals went in but never came out. He found out that room is where animals were put to sleep and it was a room he wanted to go in.

He eventually was able to get in the room and allowed to stay on occasion. Once his dad determined it didn't bother him he was allowed to stay more often. His father saw something in his son that he shared when it came to putting animals to sleep. His father showed him how he would choke some of the animals until they died and this is what he had been waiting for. His father told him he did it to save the medicine he used to put animals to sleep but he knew otherwise, he could see it in his eyes when he did it. He mainly did it to stray animals that people brought in for care and nobody claimed.

This went on for a while and he looked forward to it every time a stray would come in and was disappointed when the owner showed up. He remembered the last animal his dad choked and remembered when it came in. It was a medium size dog and it had a collar with tags on it and knew he wasn't going to watch this one die. Then one day soon after his dad told him it was time and he knew what that meant but didn't remember another stray coming in. He walked in the room closed and locked the door and looked to see that it was the dog with a collar. His father took the collar off and put it in his pocket and then choked the dog until it was dead.

Soon after that day someone showed up after they closed and he thought it was another stray being dropped off. He stayed in his dad’s office while he went to see who it was and then heard yelling. He looked out of the office and saw his dad take the man to the room and then more yelling and then went to the door. He saw his dad holding up the collar and then saying "I choked it to death" and they started fighting. The man started choking his dad and his dad went limp just like the animals did. The man let go and he dropped to the floor then the man reach down and grab the collar. He ran back to the office and then heard the man go out the door.

What he never told anyone is that he enjoyed watching his father die even more than seeing his dad kill the animals. He stood next to his father for a few minutes just looking at him then started to get mad at him after realizing he wasn't going to see him kill any more animals. Then he called 911 and waited for the police and ambulance to show.

Over a year had passed since that night and he tried to get over his need to see animals die with no luck. He even tried to do it himself but couldn't, it just wasn't the same, he had to watch. This went on for another year and didn't get any better.

One day he and his little brother were playing and he noticed that he would do anything he asked him to do. What he then did was to get him to keep it a secret from everyone, even their mother. At first it was simple things that would get them in trouble but not bad just to see if he could keep it a secret. He convinced his little brother that something really bad would happen if he told, eventually it was that their mother would be taken away.

Now that he felt his brother was ready he had to figure out how to get him to do what he was so desperate to see. He made up a game he called "the sleepy game" and began to teach it to his brother. Then it was time to start playing the game. He would catch the dog or cat and his brother would grab the neck and say "sleepy sleepy go sleepy" until they did. Eventually he would lure the animals by his brother so he could grab and choke them.

The second part of the game was that they would leave and come back the next day to see that they had woken up and went on their way. This would make his brother happy and want to play again. What he didn't know was that when his older brother would go back to watch them wake up he would actually go and move the body. He started taking the collars so he could remember the experience later but he wouldn't make the same mistake his dad did and show anybody.

This went on for awhile and eventually wasn't enough to feed his need to see the dying process. His brother has grown bigger and stronger and faster at choking, too fast. He couldn't stop thinking of the way he felt when he watched his dad die and wanted to see it again. He knew he had to convince his little brother to play the game with people now and that wouldn't be easy.

He explained to his little brother that he wanted to find others to play the sleepy game and how they would act so he wouldn't be surprised. It took some time but he eventually agreed to play the game with others. They didn't play with others often mainly to let their disappearance die down and it took time to gain the trust of the kids they started with. As they grew so did the victims and he went from luring to following and picking the right time to take them.

He would do his best to keep his brother from watching the news, cartoons were perfect for that and would pull fliers down for the missing animals and kids. As he got older he would even participate in searches so he could make sure they weren't getting close to where he would hide and eventually burying them.

He confessed to everything in the beginning in hopes of sparing his brother from being punished for what he made him do. After finding out what happened to him and watching the video he had to set things straight. He asked that his little brother not be pressured to relive what happened and be left alone.
